District Attorney Johnson Britt
District Attorney Luther Johnson Britt, III received a B.A. in Politics from Wake Forest University in 1982 and a Juris Doctorate degree from Campbell University School of Law in 1987. He was admitted to the NC State Bar in 1987 and the United States Court Bar in 1992.

Britt’s career began in 1987 as an Associate for the law practice, Lee and Lee Attorneys at Law. In 1989, he became an Assistant District Attorney for the for the North Carolina Prosecutorial District 16B, Robeson County. In addition, he was an Assistant District Attorney for District 13, Brunswick, Columbus, and Bladen Counties. In 1994, he became the District Attorney for the Prosecutorial District 16B, Robeson County.

He served on the following boards or committees for the North Carolina

Conference of District Attorneys: Executive Committee in 1997, 1998, 2000 and was the President from July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2003. From 1997 to present he has served as the Chairman of the Training Committee, except for the year 2000-2001, where he served as Vice-President of the Executive Committee. In addition, he was the Co-Chairman for the Innovative Prosecution Committee in 1999 to present.
 
Britt served as a participant for the Promoting Innovation in Prosecution, by the Jefferson Institute for Justice Studies in Washington, DC from 1997 to present. He was a speaker for the National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators Conference in July 1999 and the New York Prosecutors Training Institute, Inc. Management Seminar for Upper Level Supervisors in August 1999. Furthermore, he is a member of the North Carolina Advisory Committee, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids from 1997 to present. Lastly, he served as a member of the Robeson County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council from 1999 to present.
 
He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lumberton, former deacon and is an elder, and is married to Fordham Baldridge Britt.
