MINOR TRAFFIC VIOLATION COURT (MTV)

Minor Traffic Violation Court (MTV) in the 30th Prosecutorial District is designed to be a user-friendly system to dispose of infractions and minor traffic offense pleas in a quick and efficient manner.
There are three main things that you need to know before appearing in Minor Traffic Violation Court. First, if you qualify for this court, the officer that issues the citation will give you a notice as set out below. Second, law enforcement officers are not present for MTV Court. Finally, trials are not held in MTV Court. If you want to have a trial for an infraction, either you or your attorney will have to appear in MTV Court to obtain a trial date.

If you qualify for MTV Court, the notice you receive should state the following:

Your attorney may also waive your appearance for you. Defendants wanting to plead guilty to a lesser offense should appear personally or through counsel on their court date.
