Mike Bonfoey has served as the District Attorney of the 30th Prosecutorial District since April 2003. After the death of Charles Hipps on February 28, 2003, Mike Bonfoey was appointed to serve as District Attorney by North Carolina Governor Mike Easley. In November 2004 Bonfoey was elected as District Attorney in the general election. Mike Bonfoey received his undergraduate degree, B.A. in History, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972. He received his legal education and law degree, Juris Doctorate, from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in May 1976. |

| Mike Bonfoey is 56 years old and is married to Kelley Bonfoey. Kelley is an attorney. She graduated from the University Of North Carolina School Of Law in 1986. Since obtaining her law degree, Kelley, has worked as an attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina in the Sylva office. Kelley is currently Senior Staff Attorney. Mike Bonfoey has one daughter, Tekla, who is a Probation Officer in Guilford County North Carolina. He has a step-daughter, Lauren, who is a student at the Waynesville Middle School. Mike, Kelley and Lauren make their home at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. | |||||||||
