Professional Development
The Conference provides dozens of informative training programs every year, ranging from fundamental trial skills development to specialized programs focusing on a particular criminal law area. Some of these training programs are designed exclusively for prosecutors, but many are open to law enforcement, legal assistants, court staff, and other allied professionals. The Conference gratefully acknowledges the grant funding that makes many of these trainings possible.
The calendar below lists all of the year’s upcoming programs, so prosecutors and others can plan their attendance in advance. If a program is currently open for registration, clicking on the title or register button will bring up a registration page.
Please direct any questions about content, eligibility, or registration for a specific training to the contact listed for that course, or you can email the Conference for additional information.

Sexual Exploitation and Technology Facilitated Crimes Against Children
- September 5, 2025
Digital technology, social networking, mobile phone apps, and artificial intelligence are changing the face of the crimes against children. Anonymity has always enabled exploiters to easily find, groom, and exploit young victims for both sexual and financial gain. Now with the increasing use of artificial intelligence, opportunists are utilizing new ways to create and share illegal material. This course will discuss current sexual exploitation statutes in North Carolina, trends in the field, new investigative techniques, and tips for prosecutors navigating this new evidentiary world.

M is for Murder

Additionally, this course will provide practical exercises in the investigation and prosecution of a homicide and teamwork tips for investigators and victim advocates.
Content Advisory—Please read before registering.
This training will focus on child homicides, including case details, investigation techniques and autopsies. While the content will be presented with professionalism and care, we recognize that some individuals choose not to handle homicides of this nature. We encourage prospective attendees to consider this when deciding whether to attend this year’s M is for Murder and to care for their well-being accordingly.

Impaired Driving: Practice Makes Perfect September 2025
- September 11, 2025 – September 12, 2025
